Drinking at bar in Belize in spring
He asked me to dance I said, "No." at first glance
I was leaving the door but he repeatedly persisted
Did not say no 'til I resisted
Hail to the thief who stole my heart
My plane left in May and it tore me apart.
I was able to surpass my grave depression
When I landed in France he made a real impression
Stuck to my senses, the way that man could cook
& the warmth from the kitchen overtook.
Up north to Norway, forgot all my Francais
Got stuck on a chairlift, was my lucky day
For sitting beside me with a smile and a handshake
The lovliest Norwegian my new friend Rene
Bonfires in January, words of play
Wrote the story of my heart
And he threw it away.
In Egypt he walked up to me and he said, "Come, the night is young."
I was very weary, but still I could see myself in his arms
The desert dries you up if you have doubts
Don't be so proud, come away with me now.
In egypt when he walked up to me I felt a line
Pulling backwards and forward at the same time, overboard
I made my home in his soul searching for nothing more
For if I drifted I'd lift everything we've been searching for
I took the hand left my stand, even though I felt a man
Couldn't guide me, invite me to a different land, kiss my hand
And when seasons form they form for you & me in our bliss.
